 Third Time's a Charm

This is the third stay at the Royal Decameron and once again we had fabulous weather, great food and wonderful service by the staff. Can't wait until next year to book again.

 YeahMon

We enjoyed this resort a lot but it won't be for everyone. If you are used to the "Big Box" resorts then you won't like this one. But if you enjoy a smaller resort with great food, nice people, and a 5 min ride from the airport then this is the place for you.

It wasn't very busy when we went so not a lot of partying going on but I had a great time none the less. You don't have to travel very far to get anywhere on the resort. The buffet was great......if you are ok with Jamaican food. Curried goat, jerk chicken, jerk port, potatoes, rice, beans, great soups and usually fish. We never had a problem with eating! The al a carte is the only problem with this resort. There is no dress code so people show up in whatever and food is mediocre. They could probably do without the a al carte. Yes, the resort is older so the rooms aren't the most amazing but we had a flat screen TV with lots of channels and we had a bathroom with hot water, what more do you need. We had to pay for a lock for the safe. $14 for the week so no too bad. The only thing they could improve are the beds and pillows. Hard as a rock and paper thin pillows. The best part is the view from the room, our balcony was on the 3rd floor and we didn't have any palm trees in our way so we could see straight out to the ocean. It looked like other rooms might be blocked by the palm trees.
Overall we had a great time, weather was amazing. We walked down to Margaritaville for lunch one day which was nice. For the price we paid to go to Jamaica we couldn't have asked for more. Oh yeah, there are 2 small beaches, the one furthest down was the best but the other one was great for snorkeling.

 Good

The Hotel and ameneties were good. The food was repetitious and the buffet light on choices. Your best meal? Breakfast and the Snack Bar. You must ask for your Bacon at the Egg/Omelette Station for they do not offer it on the Buffet. The pools(2) were small and not enough lounge chairs. People were bringing them up from the beach area. The beach area has loads of lounge chairs AND shade huts. No vendors were allowed on the beach. It is a clean Hotel, the staff are friendly and the rooms are good. There is a lovely boardwalk on the entire complex. It was kind of neat. Ask for MISS POLLY to book an hour trip in a glass bottom boat with a short snorkel excursion included. We got this half price NOT booked at Hotel. He is always stationed at far side of Hotel where you pick up your beach towels. We are coming again in March (not this hotel) and he gave us his card and we will do this again with his boat, for us and our family for he is cool and will negotiate a good price. For the price we paid we believe what we got in return was fair. We had another couple with us who made this trip GREAT!!!! No complaints. yea mon

 Mostly Good

Everything was good except for one thing. The day we got there, the hotel told us that they did not have an oceanview room, which we booked two months prior, for us. Their explanation was non-existent, and basically they wanted to appease us with a bottle of champagne. Since 3 out of 4 of us do not drink, this was an empty gesture. So, we got a pretty lame gardenview room, and then had to move rooms the next day to the proper one.
Over all, the hotel is decent...but this really put a damper on the trip, and made the first day VERY frustrating.
Oh...and the tour company representative had nothing to offer in terms of any help or better explanation either...

 Strictly Good Tings

This resort completely exceeded our expectations. It's close to town and the staff are excellent. The food was good and there is plenty of access to local fair all within walking distance. You are only a short walk from Doctor's Cave Beach. The rooms are simple, clean, comfortable and modest but lets be honest you're not here to hang out in your room! The common areas are great and the common beach resources were always available. Some cool snorkelling right in front of the resort. If you're the kind of person who wants to remain confined within the walls of a false Jamaican tourist compound then this place isn't for you. If you're looking for honest friendly staff who really want you to experience Jamaica and work their asses off to make sure you have a great time. Then this place is for you. This place is an underrated gem and I would go back in a second.

"Mek me tell yuh wah ah gwan at this place".
We took a family trip, after reading all the reviews before we left, there was no doubt in my mind that I will make this a happy family trip.
Thank to Air Transat and the staff for making a safe and enjoyable trip. As we arrived in Jamaica and after exiting the airport, we thought what the hell, vacation starts, we we bought a few beers and start to drink in the bus. We arrived at the hotel about 11:00 am and had to wait on our rooms which would be ready by 3:00 pm, but that was no problem,we began the beer drinkin until the rooms are ready.
Room: Extremely clean
Services: Excellent
Staff: Very Accomodating
Hotel: Clean and well maintained through the day.
Food: Excellent
Special congratulations to the Manager - Alex.
We would like to thank all the staff who we found was very friendly and pleasant.
Although this is our second trip in Jamaica, we think that Royal Decameron Mobay is among the best vacation spot for us and we are planning to return soon.
When you venture out of the hotel, there is the "Hip Strip", the people there is a little aggressive, they wants you to buy stuff from them, but all you have to do just tell them you are not interseting and they would leave you alone. A person like me would go into their store and bargain. For example, there were selling 5 T-Shirts for $ 20:00, I began to bargain and got 9 T-Shirts for the $20:00. Dont be afraid to drive a heavy bargain, you have nothing to loose.
Coming back to the staff at the hotel, I want to personally thank the followin people: Simone, Dimitri, Zulu, Kenisha, Tavari and all other who made our stay a pleasent one.
There are no negatives on our part and one must understand how you treat people thet the treatment you will get back. A small tip goes a long way.
I also would like to mention, that when people complains about food, it is the visitors who make this critique awaful. here is what wee saw during breakfast one morning, one guy picks up a breakfast sausage with his hand, smells it and then put it back in the the buffett tray instead of his plate, he then began to scratch and dig himself before going for omlet. Come on people, at least take a shower before you go for breakfast and dinner at least.
Once again thanks to Alex and his staff.

 Most amazing trip!!!

This was my first time at this hotel and it was amazing. I was not ready to go back home. The hotel and the beach were beautiful. The food was amazing. The weather was perfect. But the staff, especially the entertainment crew, made that week fantastic. Everybody was very friendly and made you feel like family. My mom and I were there to celebrate her 60th birthday and she didn't want to come home either. They made her feel really special as well. I would recommend this hotel to everybody going to Jamaica!!! I would never stay at another hotel in Montego Bay. I can't wait to go back!!!

 Another great stay.

We love to snorkel so that is one of the major reasons we visit this hotel. The reef out front had many great finds for us from octopus, eels, and flying fish. The staff is friendly and the rooms are very clean. There was a good variety of food to choose from at the buffet and the beach restaurant was handy for buffet style wings, dogs, fries and burgers. Made to order pizza was also available. Walked the strip one night for jerk pizza at the Bobsled Cafe. There were 7 in our group, all of us were repeat customers.

 Will go back ASAP!!!!

Unexpected in front of the ocean (20 ft) room. Can eat at anytime of the day. Unlimited "à la carte" diners. Extremely friendly staff! Always clean. The hotel floors are way too slippery and should be washed at night. Exchange your money in Jamaican dollars (not American): you'll save A LOT!

Good but down in comparison with last September

General speaking good versus price. Entertainment down two stars. A few good people involved in entertainment activity left the resort. The "Glitters" Disco is no longer a disco , just a very loud music with no schedule and no scope to make tourists of all ages happy.
The food was sometime good, sometime bad. Their facilities need upgrades !

 Enjoyed the vacation

We were really lucky to get a room right outside the pool. There was no beach. The food was great . I would recommend it for couples and families but not for singles as there were no young people to mingle with. Overall it was a good vacation.

 WILL RETURN

We absolutely loved the resort. For those who like to be close to the airport and hip strip, this place is great! The employees were fantastic, always with a smile ☺. The beach is not huge, but they actually have two, one on each end of the resort. There was a variety of food each sitting. Something for everyone. Overall a very nice clean place. Great for familes, fine for those couples that don't mind the families. We will be returing next year for the 3rd time! Yeahmon!!!

 Chambre de courtoisie

Bonjour

 Great vacation spot

I went with my best friend and we had a great time. This hotel was close to everything as it is located on the "Hip strip". It is walking distance to the famous Magarittaville and all the shopping. The staff were amazingly friendly. The facilty was very clean and the grounds well kept.
Although I had such great fun at Decameron, I would not recommend it for family vacation including children. I would say it is more ideal for younger and olders adults. I must say the beach was naturally beautiful and the food was ok.

Les excursions;

It was good but overpriced for the quality

My husband sells commercial grade doors for a living and the first thing he noticed was their codes were not up to our standards in North America. Smoke detectors but no sprinkler system. Wood exterior doors to the rooms with key lock rather than card access. Otherwise it was fine but I've stayed at nicer places for less money. The people that worked there were FABULOUS though! With the exception of the front desk clerk who was rude when I asked on the second day if he could guarantee we would get the oceanview room. We paid for 7 nights in an oceanview room and got 6. The first night was spent in a corner ground floor room that had a view of plants and a sliver of ocean if you looked really close out the window. The clerk tried to say that was ocean view. I'm not normally a fussy person but I did want to get what I paid for. We aren't the only ones this happened to. There were others at the same time wer were there plus I've read of others this happened to at various times. The remainder of the time we wanted to sleep with the windows open but the smell of pot from the next door neighbour permeated into our room. I didn't want that good of a time. Food & entertainment was good.
